Governors

Governors

The main role of our governors is to champion our children, support the school leaders and also hold the leadership team to account for pupil outcomes. They also ensure that statutory requirements around safeguarding and curriculum are put into place.

They represent a range of members of society including parents, LA, staff etc.

Our governors spend a lot of time in school meeting with all members of staff including participating in pupil progress meetings twice a year. Because of the commitment and time spent, all our governors know the strengths of our school. They are also aware of ways in which we can improve.

The governors of Nicol Mere Primary School believe it is important that boards reflect the diversity of the school communities they serve. Diverse boards promote inclusive school environments and provide diverse role models for staff and young people.

The governors are currently collecting data on the diversity of the board, including data on age, gender and ethnicity. They will use that data to inform their recruitment and training needs and ensure there is always a diverse range of perspectives around the table to support robust decision making.

We do not publish any diversity information that may disclose personal information about individual governors. This is due to our legal obligation to protect their personal data.

None of our governors have any business interests with any of our suppliers.
