School Values

School Values

As a school community, we have worked together to develop and promote our school values. These values are the core of all we do. Nicol Mere values are important to all children, staff, parents and governors. They make our school community happy and harmonious where children feel secure.

Working together

We believe that school values:

  1. Improves self-esteem and confidence.
  2. Creates a better atmosphere and environment for all.
  3. Encourage children to become more aware of their behaviour
  4. Have a positive impact upon behaviour
  5. Teach children to value themselves, each other and their environment.
  6. Supports the development of the whole child
  7. Allows children to discover the best of themselves
  8. Prepares children to become valued citizens in the real world

How do we do it?

  • Our approach consists of five values
  • At the beginning of each new academic year, the values are introduced into each classroom, and every child signs the values tree that is displayed in their classroom.
  • The values are celebrated through assemblies and through them being promoted by all staff in every aspect of school life.
  • Our school values are displayed in all classrooms, on noticeboards and are visible on the school website.
  • Our promotion of British Values will make reference to and merge with our values.

When we launched our school values through our 'launch day', the children completed work in class, presented this to the governors and also worked closely with students from Winstanley College to create a piece of art work that involved all of our children and promoted our values. Together, a beautiful ‘school value’ tree was created.

The school values are an integral part of our behaviour and reward policy. During each Friday celebration assembly, children are picked to receive a special reward linked to the school values.

We all play a hugely influential role in the lives of children, and we must give children the right message.
