Join the Nicol Mere Family
We’re always delighted to welcome new families into our school community. If you’re considering Nicol Mere for your child, we warmly invite you to come and visit us. Simply give the school office a call to arrange a tour with Mrs Swift, our Headteacher, who thoroughly enjoys meeting prospective parents and pre-school children and showing them around our vibrant school.
Applying for a Place
As a community school, Nicol Mere follows Wigan Council’s admissions policy. This means that the Local Authority manages all applications and allocates school places.
If your child is due to start Reception in September 2025, you’ll need to apply for a school place when admissions open in September 2024.
- Our Published Admissions Number (PAN) is 60 pupils.
- Children born between 1st September 2020 and 31st August 2021 will be eligible to start Reception in September 2025.
To apply, you must complete Wigan Council’s online primary school application form or request a paper form from the council.
We strongly recommend submitting your application before the deadline in January 2025. Applications received after the closing date will be treated as late, which may reduce your chances of securing a place at your preferred school.
