Our Community Involvement
We are incredibly proud of our local community and take every opportunity to give back, care for others, and build strong connections. We want our children to grow up with a deep sense of pride in where they live, along with the values of kindness, respect and responsibility.
By getting involved in community activities, our pupils not only become better citizens, but they also learn the importance of teamwork, empathy, and making a positive difference.
Here are just some of the ways we stay connected and support our community:
We attend our local cenotaph each year, where our children take part in prayers and readings, laying a wreath on behalf of the Queen’s Lancashire Regiment. We return throughout the year to help tidy the site and keep it well cared for.
Our school choir performs at a variety of local events, including the Bryn Christmas Tree Light Switch-On and Garswood Hall Bowling Club’s lunch for elderly residents.
At Christmas, our children sing for local residents and deliver food parcels and small gifts to elderly neighbours as a gesture of seasonal cheer.
Pupils visit Garswood House and other care homes to sing, chat and spend quality time with residents, helping combat loneliness and bring joy.
Our children regularly make handmade cards and messages to send to care home residents, letting them know they’re in our thoughts.
We run our own second-hand uniform shop to support families and reduce waste, making school essentials more accessible to everyone.
Our pupils take part in regular litter picks to help keep our local area clean, safe and welcoming.
We work closely with local colleges to provide placements and experience for students, supporting the next generation of educators and carers.
Our school community regularly collects items for local food banks, helping families in crisis with essential supplies.
We maintain strong links with local high schools, Winstanley College and Edge Hill University, promoting learning beyond the classroom.
We regularly support Wigan-based charities through fundraising, awareness events and direct contributions.
