Mental Health Champions
Mental Health Champions at Nicol Mere
At Nicol Mere, we believe that positive mental health is just as important as physical health. That’s why we’ve established a dedicated team of Mental Health Champions—pupils who are trained and passionate about supporting the emotional wellbeing of everyone in our school community.
What is a Mental Health Champion?
Our Mental Health Champions are a group of pupils committed to raising awareness and promoting mental wellbeing across school. They believe that every individual’s happiness and emotional health matter, and they work together to make sure everyone feels supported and included.
The team has taken part in specialist workshops delivered by One Goal, where they explored what mental health means, learned practical strategies for self-care, and discovered how to support others around them. Through these sessions, they developed key skills including empathy, active listening, and resilience.
The champions explored five essential qualities needed for their role and took part in role-play scenarios to practise offering support. Armed with tools, confidence, and a passion for helping others, they now help spread positivity and provide a listening ear to those who need it.
